I am soon going to delete my Yahoo account for reasons obvious to anyone who reads the news. As far as I can determine, this will mean I can receive emails from the group but not otherwise participate, so I will leave the group as well.

GANNET is presently in Durban, South Africa. We sailed 9,000 miles this year in four months. I return to her on January 12. I’ll haul and anti-foul, hope to find no unexpected problems, do some other minor maintenance, provision, and expect to be ready to resume the voyage by February 1. When I actually leave will depend on the weather. It is a serious coast.
Time and chance permitting, I hope to complete the circumnavigation and be back in San Diego by mid-2017. That will require sailing at least 11,000 miles and beating the hurricane season off the west coast of Central America.
I’m not sure where I will stop, if at all, in South Africa after Durban. I will stop briefly at St. Helena. Somewhere in the Caribbean, probably St. Lucia. Panama. And then San Diego, unless I decide to go out to Hawaii and then to Seattle. Or southwest to the Marquesas and back to New Zealand.
You already know how well built Moore 24s are. Further proof is that GANNET has now sailed more than 16,000 miles, been in two 55 knot gales, and as far as I know suffered no structural damage.
