I trust everyone has made it home safely and every Moore is tucked in its trailer spot! For our Pacific Coast Championships, you couldn't have asked for much better weather or location. The breeze was usually up by 10am and not too much snow left on the ground.

Playing shifts and shore lift was the strategy for the whole weekend. At times it seemed everyone had a chance in a race - Kathryn was really hauling, many other boats garnered top spot finishes. It was very competitive through the final race - Gruntled and Banditos tied for second and John Kernot's boat took it on the tiebreaker. Vaughn walked away with it on a great 'come from behind' victory. He goes home with the Perpetual Trophy and the newly renamed cedar trunk - this is now the Joel Verutti Trophy in honor of our class historian and all-around great guy.
We rounded it out with many other great events:
1. Trailer Olympics - this had some new challenges (cup-tipping!) but was close enough to almost require a run-off! However, our 'on the pavement' judge Rowan Fennell did his magic with the timer, pluses and minuses for style or beer spillage, so the ol' seat cushion went to Topper II!
2. Great t-shirts! If you haven't seen them, check the website. They are definite 'must have' Moore wear.
3. Friday night potluck and bonfire - Simon and Claire cooked up a fantastic South African kettle pot while we burned down a good portion of the Huntington forest.
4. Tri-tip dinner with the Wabbits - great food served up at the HL resort, and no one got any carrot juice on them! (That should have been on the bar menu!)
Hats off to Simon for organizing this into a really great event.
If you didn't make Huntington then you just have to check out our next venue at the Gorge. Another beautiful mountain setting and should be great weather, but always with great people. Then hopefully some of you will stay for the following weekend's Double-Dammed race - an insane 42 miles downwind romp from Cascade Locks to the Dalles. The Moore still holds the course record for this event. I know I'll be there.....
